My journey in yoga started twenty years ago. I had a profound experience in one particular Restorative workshop. At the time, I felt depleted in service to my three young children. With the holidays approaching, I was anxious and burned out. During class in a child’s pose, the teacher put a blanket over my shoulders just like I would have done to my own children. I melted in emotions. My eyes rolled down tears and a sense of worthiness and peace enveloped my body. I felt “seen.”
As a type A personality with an MBA, I worked in the corporate world and thrived on goal setting and deadlines. I felt drained and desired to learn ways to relieve stress. My breath was edgy and compressed most of the time. I desired to have permission to truly relax and rest.
I kept exploring
different ways to find this calm feeling of being truly “alive” and “well” during my triathlon training. My inner journey has been informed and influenced by teachers like Judith Lasater, Jack Kornfield, Marshall Rosenberg, Kristin Neff, and Leslie Kominoff. I now take great joy in sharing these practices through Restorative Yoga, sound healing, and reiki with others.
My highest contribution is to help stressed-out women find inner-worth through self-compassion and rest. If we can truly brush off the apologies and guilt associated with rest, our radiance can sparkle from this ‘sage space.’ There are a thousand things that are urgent, but there are only one or two that are essential. Sometimes that one thing you truly need is deep mental relaxation, the antidote to stress.
